Compare and contrast living at home and in the dormitory :

Have you ever had an experience of living in the dormitory? When I was a junior college's student, It was my first time to visit Huwei of Yunlin County; also, it was the first time that I lived outside without family's help.

Beginning to live in the dormitory, the place and the environment were strange to me, so that I spent a sleepless night. I never had such that feelings when I was living at home. Unlike at home, I should take care all of own living things by myself. For instance, washing clothes, preparing/buying three meals, folding the quilt and purchasing daily necessities, even buying the snack at night. I can only miss my mom's dishes in the dream. The thing that I was not used to it most in the dormitory is that:: There was no personal television.

Although it is so inconvenient to live in the dormitory, yet there are also many advantages for it. For example, the distance between dormitory and school is always nearer than the distance between home and school, we can save much commuting money. Second, because I can meet many different friends, so I can increase my social ability. If I have some problems in my studying, I can find solutions more quickly with roommates. Solving problems with roommates together always can build a deeper relationship than the other way. Nevertheless, I must be used to accepting every different peculiar habits of my roommates, like snoring, streaking... etc.

Sometimes in the dormitory, I could do everything which I could not do at home. If I roared at home, my mom must be angry and scold me, however, nobody could control me in the dormitory. I could go outside to buy my favorite snack after 12:00 PM in the school. On the other hand, at home, I should go to bed before 12:00 PM. We are free to do things in the dormitory. On the other hand, it is likely that we will be indulged in doing something without limit. However, no matter we will go anywhere, we should go back on time every night when we living on campus.

Finally, living in the dormitory is more fun than living at home, but I should learn to solve many of my own problems without family's help. By doing this, I can cultivate independent characteristic by living outside. Because my parents can not protect forever, so most important of all, I should train my shoulders to be stronger. When I do get stronger, then it is my turn to protect my homeland.

比較住在家裡跟住宿舍的優缺點： 你是否有曾經住在宿舍的經驗呢？在我讀五專的時候，生平第一次拜訪雲林虎尾這個地方，也是我第一次離開家園，在外面生活。

剛開始住在宿舍，對環境以及室友都感到非常陌生，以至於第一個出門在外的夜晚，我失眠了，這是在家裡生活時從未發生過的事情。住在宿舍所有的生活起居必須自己照料，像洗衣服、三餐、折棉被和買日常用品，甚至是晚上想吃消夜的時候，都只能在夢中想像母親的料理。在宿舍我還不能習慣的一件事情就是：宿舍沒有個人電視！

住宿雖然這麼的不方便，但它也有優點而且還不少，宿舍通常離學校近，可以省下很多的交通費用。住校還可以認識不同的朋友，增進人際關係，在課業上有問題的時候，住宿能夠比較快找到同學一起討論問題，這樣朝夕相處的關係，往往可以建立較深厚的友誼，但卻必須去習慣群體生活中每個人不同的怪僻！如：打鼾、裸奔…

住宿舍能夠做在家中所不能做的事情，如在房間大聲喧嘩媽媽也不會拿著武器來追打，還可以三更半夜出去買消夜吃，然而在家裡午夜12點就得就寢，住宿可以過著比較不受拘束的生活，但這也意味著過於不受拘束會變成『放縱』。 然而，不管我們去了哪裡，每個晚上都必須在門禁時間內準時回到宿舍。

不過，宿舍也是個有門禁的地方… 住宿的生活充滿著很多樂趣，沒有了家庭的保護，也因此培養更獨立的個性，家庭不能永遠守護著我們，即早訓練自己的肩膀，以便應付未來各種的難題，到最後就要由我們來守護家庭。
